![]() ![]() Your engine being a PD does not support this feature. Once again when the engine is running the timing is controlled by the ECM. And in any case this will only affect starting. Ideally at normal operating temperature the point of injection would correspond with the centre line, midway between maximum advance and maximum retard, but it won't make any noticable difference as long as the point of injection is somewhere close to the centre. VCDS' TDi Timing tool can be used to show injection timing in graph form on many older VAG engines with Electronic Diesel Control (EDC). If a replacement cambelt is fitted and tensioned correctly your Torsion figure should be close to zero. Of course you would like to have the Torsion figure set to zero, but with such tight tolerances this isn't easy to achieve, nor is it totally necessary. ![]() Once the engine is running the ECM controls injection timing. The only effect this will have is on starting. VCDS will show the Torsion figure in Measuring Blocks, and to alter it you have to slacken the three camshaft pulley screws and move the camshaft slightly in one direction or the other changing the relationship between the camshaft and pulley.
